Dustveil Communion immagina un disco di blues psichedelico della fine degli anni Sessanta, stampato privatamente e recuperato da una cassa di legno dietro una libreria esoterica ormai chiusa. Il suo mondo è polveroso, arso dal sole e illuminato dai funghi: la chitarra fuzz resta sospesa nell’aria come fumo, mentre organi Hammond e Farfisa, batteria sciolta, percussioni manuali e un profondo basso analogico mantengono la musica ancorata a un battito lento e terroso.

Il disco non è deliberatamente costruito su dieci versioni dello stesso groove rituale. “Redcap” si appoggia a un riff sporco che invita a muovere la testa, “Ashroot” vira verso un secco passo desertico e “Low Sun” apre uno spazio al tramonto più caldo e umano. “Mire” trascina il suono nello swamp blues, “Sporelight” fluttua in un luminoso movimento in 6/8 e la spoglia “Hollow” affida la tensione al basso, al timpano e al silenzio.

Le parti vocali restano rade per tutto il disco. Gli strumenti sostengono gran parte della narrazione attraverso tremolo, chitarra slide, foschia di nastro, riverbero a molla e passaggi estesi lasciati liberi di respirare. Quando “Communion” riunisce forme musicali precedenti nella processione conclusiva, l’album ha attraversato una quiete piena di fumo, strade aride, acque nere e campi strani, prima di tornare al fruscio e alle campane da cui era emerso.
