Geoff Emerick의 Here, There and Everywhere는 아무리 세밀한 Beatles biography도 그대로 재현할 수 없는 것을 제공한다.

그의 professional development는 Beatles의 빠른 transformation과도 나란히 진행됐다. band가 straightforward pop recording에서 increasingly elaborate studio construction으로 이동하는 동안 Emerick는 junior work에서 더 큰 technical responsibility로 나아갔다.

Emerick는 Revolver session 동안 balance engineer가 되었고, 그 역할로 처음 작업한 Beatles song은 "Tomorrow Never Knows"였다.

*Sgt.

Sgt. Norman Smith, Ken Townsend, Richard Lush, Phil McDonald, George Martin과 다른 staff가 Beatles years 전반에 기여했다.

Beatles track은 Lennon, McCartney, Harrison이 쓴 composition에 George Martin이 direction을 준 결과만이 아니다. room 안의 performance를 tape 위 information으로 바꾸는 physical chain of decisions이기도 하다.

White Album session

Abbey Road session은 또 하나의 technological threshold에서 일어났다. eight-track recording은 가능성을 넓혔고 solid-state equipment는 studio sound의 일부 특성을 바꿨으며, album의 famous medley에는 elaborate editing과 sequencing이 필요했다.

Here, There and Everywhere에는 Beatles historian과 participant가 이의를 제기해 온 recollection이 있다. Mark Lewisohn의 The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions는 date와 documented activity를 제공할 수 있고, Emerick는 특정 session 내부의 sensation을 전달할 수 있으며, George Martin의 All You Need Is Ears는 producer perspective를 제공한다. source가 일치하면 confidence가 높아지고, 다르면 disagreement를 visible하게 유지해야 한다.

또한 exact technical manual도 아니다. definitive date, take number, documented session activity가 필요한 사람은 Lewisohn과 다른 archival source를 함께 봐야 한다.

Revolver, Sgt.
