Albums From Timelines That Never Existed
RetroForge Records is an independently operated music project based in the Netherlands. It creates original, album-first progressive, psychedelic, krautrock and experimental music framed through the sound and atmosphere of earlier musical eras.
What the historical years mean
A year such as 1967, 1972 or 1984 identifies the musical vocabulary being explored: instrumentation, production character, composition, atmosphere and album culture. The music itself is newly created. The alternate-history framing is part of the artwork and storytelling, not a claim that the recording genuinely existed in that period.
How a RetroForge album is made
Each release begins with human creative direction: a period, genre, visual world, album concept and musical identity. Tracks are developed and selected individually, then revised, sequenced and checked for variety and continuity. Lyrics, artwork, liner notes, metadata, video presentation and release packaging are shaped around the same album-specific concept.
AI-assisted tools support parts of the music and visual production. The human work lies in defining the concept, directing generations, rejecting weak results, editing and refining material, sequencing the record, maintaining continuity, preparing artwork and metadata, and deciding what is ultimately released.
A growing digital archive
RetroForge releases full albums through YouTube and major streaming platforms, with selected downloadable editions available through Ko-fi. This website is the permanent archive: a place for complete album entries, stories, lyrics, artwork, listening links and the broader fictional musical universe.
