Straight answers about how RetroForge Records works, what the archive years mean, where the music can be found and what listeners may do with it.
Is RetroForge Records AI music?
RetroForge Records creates original music through human creative direction and an AI-assisted production process. AI-assisted tools support parts of the music and visual production. The album concept, direction, selection, editing, sequencing, continuity, artwork, metadata and final release decisions are shaped by the person operating the project.
Is RetroForge a real band or record label?
RetroForge Records is an independently operated music and editorial project based in the Netherlands. It is not a single conventional band, and it is not a traditional label representing a roster of outside artists. “Records” describes the album-focused identity of the project.
Are the years real release dates?
No. A year such as 1967, 1973 or 1984 identifies the musical vocabulary being explored: instrumentation, production character, composition, atmosphere and album culture. The music itself is newly created. The historical framing belongs to the fictional archive rather than claiming that a recording genuinely existed in that period.
Who writes the music and lyrics?
Every release is developed specifically for RetroForge. Human creative direction defines the period, genre, concept, visual world and musical identity, while AI-assisted tools support parts of the production. Tracks, lyrics, artwork and presentation are selected, revised and shaped into the finished album; they are not recovered works by a historical band.
Where can the albums be downloaded?
Selected albums have downloadable editions on Ko-fi. Open an album in the Liner Notes archive to see the currently available listening and download links for that particular release.
Can the music be used in videos?
Permission is required before using RetroForge music in a video or another project. A streaming or download link does not automatically include reuse rights. Send the details of the proposed use to info@retroforgerecords.com before publishing.
Is the music available on streaming services?
Many releases are available through YouTube and major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Deezer and Tidal. Availability differs by album, so the direct links on each liner-notes page are the most reliable guide.
Is there physical vinyl?
RetroForge is currently a digital-first project. Physical vinyl is not currently offered unless a release or shop page explicitly states otherwise. The vinyl imagery is part of the visual language of the fictional record archive, not a promise that every album has been pressed.
How can listeners support the project?
